If you're looking for a good hearty German meal, then look no further than the Bavarian, a Longwood-based family-friendly restaurant that offers traditional German dishes such as Schnitzel, Bratwurst, Goulash, Sauberbraten, and in Europe there is a very old saying and it goes just like this: "Der Beweis Ist Im Pudding"
Bavarian Restaurant is in the old Southside sandwich location, so there’s a lot of space to work with, including an outdoor patio and a functioning drive-thru window in the back. The inside is decked out with some pictures of German landmarks and other kitschy things, while the music appropriately plays German folk and drinking songs. Bavarian Restaurant deftly balances the fine line between “themed” and “silly as hell,” making it easy to have a casual lunch without feeling like you have to be a part of a set piece. The lunch specials are all about $9, so they’re not exactly a cheap deal, even though you get a ton of food. If you’re looking for something quick at a few bucks, the bratwursts may be more your speed at $5-$6.
